International Pathology Day* 5th November

What is the meaning of a pathology doctor or a Pathologist?*

International Pathology Day, 5th November,  is an annual awareness day which is dedicated to highlighting the pivotal role pathology plays in healthcare, and our overall health and wellbeing.

Pathology is the study of the causes, nature, and effects of disease. A pathology doctor — a pathologist — is a medical doctor who has completed residency training in pathology. Pathologists are experts in the laboratory techniques used to study disease.

*Choose your pathologist wisely*

The patient of breast cancer is offered tamoxifen because the Pathologist says it’s a hormone expressing tumor.

The girl with anemia is treated with folic acid and vitamin B12, because the Pathologist notices megaloblasts on the smears.

A patient of back pain is asked to have MRI of pelvis, because his Pathologist identifies it as metastatic spread of prostate cancer.

The patient of nasal obstruction is put on Amphotericin B, because the Pathologist hunts down the Fungus from his scrapping.

The guy with pneumonia is started with Rifampicin, isoniazid, because the Pathologist picks up slender TB bacilli from his sputum.

The child is offered albendazole for his stomach pain, because his Pathologist checks his stool for the parasite.

Yes, you read it right, you get correct treatment because one of your doctors whom you never mind to meet is actually enlightening your disease under the bright light of his microscope.

He is the inevitable person in your disease management whom you rarely see & appreciate.

You people always take many opinions before chooseing your architect for the upcoming home because it would be your dream home.

You will always check the track record before choosing your advocate because it’s a matter of your life.

You will always watch the review video before purchasing your premium phone because it’s your hard-earned money.

You will always ask many before going to some treating doctor because you want to get alright.

BUT HAVE YOU EVER CHECKED WHO IS THE DOCTOR PERSONALLY DEALING WITH YOUR BLOOD SAMPLE, YOUR TISSUE SAMPLE????

Yes, I am a proud pathologist, because I know that I matter the most in your treatment.

This International Pathology day, I appeal everyone to try to know who is your pathologist. Also check is he the pathologist or some fake guy or just his printed name or computerized signature. Insist to meet him and get your reports explained personally.

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL PATHOLOGY DAY (5th Nov. 2025) TO ME AND MY FELLOW PATHOLOGISTS.
